Google's first data center satellite goes online in orbit
Google's Suncatcher prototype space data center is online after about three weeks of commissioning. The satellite carries four TPUs and generates up to 1 kW, so only one TPU can run at a time for roughly 20 minutes. The preloaded DeepMind Gemma 4 model wrote space-themed verse and reported orbital conditions; thermal and radiation tests are next.
