AI job displacement raises tax and oversight concerns

A former solid-state physics researcher argues in the Santa Fe New Mexican that AI can replace both unskilled and highly skilled labor, eroding the labor-income tax base. Citing Nvidia's data center business generating about $194 billion in FY 2026 revenue, he calls for higher corporate rates or a minimum tax on large-company profits, plus independent technical oversight of AI.
