Microsoft unveils third-gen Maia 300 AI chip
Microsoft announced Maia 300, its third-generation in-house AI chip, as the "primary AI inference system" for its products and services, improving cloud AI cost and efficiency and handling reasoning and agentic workloads better. Production rollout starts in 2027, with 40 percent more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU systems.
