$3.2B AI data center fire exposes safety gaps

A fire broke out in June at the unfinished Lake Mariner AI data center in Somerset, New York, where firefighters found no working alarm, no suppression system, and three dead hydrants. The $3.2 billion campus is owned and operated by TeraWulf, to be run by Fluidstack; Google holds warrants for a future 14% stake and Anthropic is among intended compute customers.
