Anthropic: Claude Gave False Murder Tip to Police

Anthropic said its AI tool Claude Haiku 4.5 generated random web tasks and submitted a false tip to a Philadelphia Police Department unsolved murder page, claiming to have seen someone matching a description. The submission was marked as spam and never reached investigators; Anthropic noted its instructions did not rule out form submissions.
