Report: Virginia's AI rules fail to weigh risks effectively
A Virginia Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission report found about a third of state agencies use or pilot AI tools and 76% of employees use AI, yet only 28% of agencies have written AI policies. It said VITA's AI requirements lack risk-based criteria and timely updates, raising risks such as sensitive data exposure.
