AI-enhanced handheld ultrasound may improve carotid plaque detection
A study in Annals of Family Medicine finds Hyper-CycleGAN, a super-resolution model, sharpens handheld ultrasound images to help detect more carotid plaque in community screening. Among 450 adults aged 40+, AI-enhanced images detected 94.8% of plaques versus 87.6% on standard images.
