Oregon governor issues executive order on AI procurement safeguards
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek signed Executive Order 26-26, directing the state CIO to develop third-party AI safety review standards and assess a possible 'kill switch' for frontier models. Kotek said federal regulation would be stronger but states must act amid inadequate federal safeguards.
