EPA watchdog audits agency's AI practices
The EPA's inspector general launched a compliance audit into whether the agency violated federal rules for developing, deploying and assessing AI tools. The inquiry follows a Monitor report that the EPA deployed custom AI tools, including ones to speed approvals of toxic chemicals and pesticides, without the transparency required by law.
