Chinese Academy of Sciences builds AI to protect superconducting magnets
The Institute of Modern Physics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences trained a convolutional neural network on years of data to build AI-QDS. In tests at HIAF's FECR ion source, it detected all three quench events despite over 1,000 flux jumps, distinguishing quenches from magnetic noise within milliseconds.
