Virtual biotech uses AI agents for drug discovery
A Stanford Medicine spinout created a virtual biotech company composed of about 37,000 AI scientist agents covering the drug development pipeline, reportedly predicting trial success and independently designing a lung cancer therapy later validated in trials. The effort builds on a 2025 virtual lab led by James Zou and Harrison Zhang.
