Japan's Digital Agency trials AI app to draft Diet answers
Japan's Digital Agency began trialing an app built on its Gennai generative AI platform, available to about 180,000 government workers, to draft answers to lawmakers' questions and anticipate their intent. It generates multiple drafts within minutes from past answers and Diet minutes, with policy-explanation and political-judgment writing modes; officials stress humans remain responsible for final decisions. The agency will evaluate it this Diet session, aiming for full operation from next year's ordinary session.
