Poll: 77% of Americans want AI development slowed or stopped

A Quinnipiac University poll finds 77% of Americans want AI development slowed or stopped until its safety is verified, 86% support independent safety standards, and 74% have little or no trust in AI company leaders. A researcher says the public wants safeguards that don't rely on executives' word.
