Report: DeepSeek V5 to be pretrained on Huawei Ascend chips
Industry supply-chain sources tell STAR Market Daily that DeepSeek's next model, V5, will be pretrained on Huawei Ascend chips, previously used mainly for inference. DeepSeek has said V4-Pro throughput is limited by high-end compute and expects big price cuts once Ascend 950 super-nodes ship at scale in H2.
