California Enacts 12 AI Regulation Bills
California enacted 12 bills plus executive measures regulating AI across employment, healthcare, digital content, identity and biosecurity. At work, employers can no longer base discipline or termination solely on algorithmic assessments; human review is required and layoffs caused by AI must be disclosed. Lawyers may not fully delegate core duties such as drafting briefs to AI, and public colleges must set AI training and procurement standards.
