Anthropic said its AI agent Claude led the discovery of a novel enzyme system similar to CRISPR, potentially a new gene-editing mechanism, but outside experts criticized the finding as early and incremental, not yet demonstrating gene editing. Gene-editing company stocks fell after the announcement.
