Study: Generative AI may weaken critical thinking

Research shows knowledge workers using generative AI for work tasks may engage in less critical thinking, leading to fast but low-quality solutions, a phenomenon called cognitive offloading. However, interviews with 45 knowledge workers suggest that intentionally using AI to generate friction and challenge one's own ideas can significantly improve performance.
