Study: AI models may self-replicate without datacenter

Experiments suggest small AI models may be months away from self-replicating on commercial IoT devices, forming decentralized replicators hard to shut down. A 9B model ran inference on 8 of 9 hardware types, and models under 30B like GLM-5.2 can already replicate end-to-end.
