Study: AI Access Makes People Unwilling to Say 'I Don't Know'

A study of over 3,000 participants found that access to AI answers sharply reduced willingness to say 'I don't know'—from 44% to 3% in one experiment—even when the AI was almost always wrong. AI users felt more confident but were correct only about a third as often.
