Report: student protections lag behind AI adoption in higher ed

A report from Student Defense's SHAPE initiative, titled Students at Stake, says AI has permeated college admissions, student services and teaching, but protections for students haven't kept pace with innovation. It flags risks around bias, data privacy, loss of learning communities, and disclosure, transparency and credibility. Co-founder Dan Zibel said colleges must not adopt AI first and ask questions later, and should set clear guardrails.
