Poll: most Western respondents fear AI could destroy humanity

A Politico-commissioned poll across the UK, Germany, Spain, Canada, the US, and France found 55%–65% of respondents see at least a moderate risk of AI destroying humanity, while 45.1%–50.8% support slowing development. Politics barely matters: among 2024 Trump voters, 44% back slowing and 40% oppose it.
