Newsom shifts AI stance as California advances regulation and 'kill switch'
As voter concerns over AI safety, energy use and economic disruption grow, California Gov. Newsom signed several AI oversight bills and pushed to explore a 'kill switch' for advanced models. A PPIC survey found nearly three-quarters of likely California voters oppose new local data centers.
