METR study finds AI is speeding its own development

Nonprofit METR, after an 11-week study of Anthropic's internal processes, found its models' test performance has improved about 1.9 times faster since October 2025; roughly 80% of the acceleration is attributed to AI used in research and testing, with no obvious obstacles found.
