Hinton says humans may have been better off without AI

AI "godfather" Geoffrey Hinton told the Guardian humans might have been better off never developing AI, warning of a large-scale incident such as a temporary financial or power shutdown this year or next. He said the next decade will decide the outcome and criticized leaders including Sam Altman for understanding risks but prioritizing money.
