Google opens Gemini and Search to third-party apps

Google launched a Connected Apps Platform letting developers hook their services into Search and Gemini, so users can do tasks like designing a flyer or building a playlist. Built on MCP servers and AppFunctions APIs, it is in beta for US developers, who can track traffic, latency and errors. The move shifts app discovery toward AI assistants.
