CrowdGPT: A collaboratively trained 1B-parameter LLM project

A developer launched CrowdGPT, a project to collaboratively train a 1B-parameter LLM without data centers or millions in spending. It is fully open-source, publishing all training data and weights, and lets anyone contribute compute or data and help steer the project. The current model is a small proof of concept, with plans to scale. The developer seeks feedback to lower barriers to participation.
