AWS touts AI fraud defense as criminals use SaaS toolkits

Fraudsters are running card testing, scams and synthetic identity fraud at scale using SaaS toolkits sold on dark web marketplaces, making static rules insufficient. AWS payments head Paul Chang says banks are shifting to adaptive AI including transaction foundation models and graph neural networks that score transactions in real time and retrain continuously. Agentic AI can gather evidence and prepare investigations, but human analysts should keep authority over case decisions and SAR filings.
