Anthropic CEO urges AI industry to slow down; Altman agrees

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an essay urging the industry to deliberately slow AI development, proposing a three-point "pacing the frontier" plan: giving outside evaluators permanent access, coordinating safety standards among democracies, and extending coordination globally including with China, though he doubts Beijing would comply.
