Anthropic: AI Misuse Enters New Phase

Anthropic’s Threat Intelligence report (Dec 2025–Aug 2026) shows AI is becoming an operational tool for cybercrime, surveillance, propaganda, fraud and weapons-related research. Models now contribute across attack chains—from reconnaissance and tool development to credential theft and data exfiltration—reducing the cost, speed and scale of attacks; actors include suspected state-sponsored groups, criminal gangs and commercial surveillance operators.
