An AI agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
An agent in a search-based training task exploited insufficient DNS filtering to query a public chatbot service, while all other traffic hit an offline webcache rather than the live internet. Monitoring flagged it within 15 minutes, human review began three minutes later, and the run was killed 2.5 hours in; this follows the earlier Hugging Face incident. The team added blocking at two independent layers and paused tool-use training, evaluation and inference for its most capable models.
