Alibaba open-sources Damo Radar medical AI detecting cancer and nearly 150 conditions

Alibaba's Damo Academy has open-sourced Damo Radar, a vision-language model that analyzes contrast-enhanced CT scans across 18 abdominal organs to identify 146 clinical findings including cancers. In nearly 40,000 real-world exams it achieved an average AUC of 0.913, per a study in Science; the team calls it the world's first expert-level generalist medical imaging model.
