16GB VRAM is the max most people will ever reasonably have
In an r/LocalLLaMA discussion, the poster notes that 16GB VRAM (and often 12GB) is the max most people will ever reasonably have, with 24GB out of reach financially for many. Recent progress in the last six months has made agentic coding feasible on 16GB cards, but smaller models will always have limited world knowledge. The community hopes for new architectures beyond Transformers and techniques less dependent on VRAM/bandwidth.
